AbayaA full-length outer garment mostly worn by some Muslim women

A dress or skirt silhouette that is narrower at the top, flaring gently out to make an ‘A’ shape silhouette. Flattering on most figures in particular pear shapes.
The Anarkali suit is made up of a long, frock-style top and features a slim fitted bottom. The Anarkali suit varies in many different lengths and embroideries including floor-length Anarkali styles.
An asymmetric design is a garment in which one side is long than the other. Asymmetric cuts are common in necklines, collars and hems.
Asymmetrical A-line is when an A-line silhouette has an uneven fall , when the two opposite sides don't match.
It is woven with even threads that are especially good for embroidery. It is very easy to "draw" the yarns for drawn thread work. Comes bleached, or coloured. Has a soft finish.
It is typically composed of approximately 60% rayon and 40% acetate. Occasionally the warp and weft yarns are dyed different colors to give an iridescent effect.
Applique is a method of decorating garments in which one fabric is applied to another, often with floral and leaf patterns, but can be of any design and are stitched around the edged.

Bar FagotingAn embroidery technique that can be worked in by hand, in a ‘bar’ effect (a crisscross design) or using a machine with fine ribbon. The purpose of the stitches are to fill the space between two finished edges.
A Banarasi is usually reffered as a saree made in Varanasi, a city which is also called Banaras. The sarees are among the finest sarees in India and are known for their gold and silver brocade or zari, fine silk and opulent embroidery. These are now used as fabric which are made of finely woven silk and are decorated with intricate design, and, because of these engravings, are relatively heavy.
A process of patterning cloth by tie-dyeing in which the design is reserved on the undyed cloth by tying small spots very tightly with thread to protect them . from the dye. Popular III Rajasthan and Gujarat.
A band collar is a standing band-shaped collar that encircles the neck without a full turndown or a collar "cape". It can be any height.
A type of full sleeve. It is frequently made of lighter or transparent fabrics.

A long sleeve that fullness in the sleeve and is held by cuff at wrist.
A hand printingmethopd using wood, metal or linoleum blocks. The design is carved on the block for each colour. The dye is applied to the block, which is pressed and hammered against the fabric.
A type of wide neckline on a garment that sits just below the collarbone.
It's the close-fitting upper part of a dress, covering the chest and back above the waist.

A style of jeans or pants that tapers to the knee and then slightly flares to the ankle. Worn by both men and women.

Originating in the 17th Century Brocade is Italian for embossed cloth. A rich, ornate fabric with elaborate design - often reversible and featuring motifs such as flowers, foliage and scrollwork. Made with a jacquard loom.

CapeOuter garment that hangs from the shoulders.
Sleeves which appear to be emerging out of cape are called Cape sleeves, they can be of various lengthes and exaggerated styles, Cape sleeves are also considered to be the slits provided in cape for a better hand movement.

It's a traditional embroidery style from Lucknow, India.The technique of creation of a chikan work is known as chikankari. Chikan is a delicate and artfully done hand embroidery on a variety of textile fabric like muslin, silk, chiffon, organza, net, etc. White thread is embroidered on cool, pastel shades of light muslin and cotton garments.

True denim is a twill weave cotton like fabric made with different colour yarns in the warp and the weft. Due to the twill construction, one colour predominates on the fabric surface.

FringeAn ornamental border of threads left loose or formed into tassels or twists, used to edge clothing or material.
A decorative closure for a garment that is made from cord or braid. On one side of the area to be closed, a loop is made and on the other, a large, ornamental knot. The knot passes through the loop. This style of closing is often used in Chinese-influenced designs.

GathersA means of distributing fullness in some part of a garment by making soft folds in order to decrease the width of the fabric.
Georgette is a sheer, lightweight, dull-finished crêpe fabric originally made from silk, Georgette is made with highly twisted yarns which is responsible for it's crinkly surface.
A type of braid that has a heavy central core covered by a more decorative outer layer of fiber that is arranged into a design on the surface of a garment, sewn into place, and forms a raised decorative area.
Triangular piece of fabric that is inserted into the lower edge of a skirt or sleeve in order to provide additional fullness. Especially popular when fullness around the hem of a skirt.

Gota work is a type of Indian embroidery that originated in Rajasthan, India. It uses the applique technique. Small pieces of zari ribbon are applied onto the fabric with the edges sewn down to create elaborate patterns.
A triangular shaped fabric piece that is intended to add gradual fullness to a garment. Skirts often consist of two or more gores. They allow a closer fit over the hips and then gradually flare out at the lower part of the garment.

HemsThe lower edge of a part of a garment that has been finished off with some type of sewing to cover the raw edge.

NetNet is a kind of cloth that you can see through. It is made of very fine threads woven together so that there are small equal spaces between them.

OrganzaOrganza is a thin, plain weave, sheer fabric made from silk.

Pagoda SleevesA sleeve that is shaped much like an Asian building called a pagoda. Like a pagoda, the sleeve is narrow at the top where it fits the upper arm closely, then gradually flares out to become wide at the bottom.

A placement print is the position of an artwork within a product.

They can be finished with a hem or overlapping pieces that allow the placket to be hidden. Closures such as buttons, snaps, hooks, zippers, or Velcro are often incorporated into a placket.
A pleat is a type of fold formed by doubling fabric back upon itself and securing it in place.
